I Need More Time

Photography has always been a medium shaped by time. From the long exposures of its earliest days to today’s almost instantaneous shutter speeds, it has continually adapted to the accelerating pace of life. Yet, in its attempt to capture and freeze the moment, photography also creates a space outside time.

I Need More Time brings together works by 19 artists from Türkiye and across the world who explore photography as a fluid, material and conceptual form of expression. Moving beyond fixed ideas of representation and technical conventions, the exhibition considers how images are made, transformed, and experienced over time—inviting us to slow down, look differently, and reconnect with the time embedded within photography itself.

The Spell ( 2021 )

Artist Book with 100 silkscreen prints in various shades of pink. The colours are built up in multiple layers of transparent ink. A cut-out image from the artist's archive is added to each silkscreen shape. These photos are attached as in old photo albums, with the corners inserted into a cut-out in the paper. Combined in a silkscreen box, edition 1. 

“In the summer of 2021, I worked on a new work at the invitation of Plaatsmaken in Arnhem. I learned screen printing and researched what I could do with it in my work. I learned to build color with different layers of ink. For the work The Spell, I made 100 screen prints, all identical in shape, an organic form that is often reflected in my work. A kind of egg shape, a fruit or a body. The color of each print is different. Again and again I used different combinations of ink, looking for the right degree of transparency. Later in my studio, I added small images from my archive to these seriegraphs. They are images of common household activities, but also stranger things that form a distraction from the daily tasks. The work is intended as an incantation for a housewife, hence the title The Spell. Is it the woman who is under a spell, or is it the woman who casts the spell to gain control?”
