"Dum Dum Boys" is Mikael Jansson’s powerful series of portraits featuring male rock stars with lived-in faces such as Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Nick Cave, David Johansen, David Gahan, Bryan Ferry, and Michael Stipe.
For the spring 2011 men’s fashion supplement of the New York Times T-magazine, Mikael Jansson created a series of images called “Ballad of a Thin Man”, styled by Bill Mullen and featuring the mentioned stars.
A selection of the rock star images was shown at the exhibition Dum Dum Boys at Gun Gallery in Stockholm in 2011 and at The Ravestijn Gallery, as well as art fair The Pan, both in Amsterdam in 2013.
Jansson worked for W Magazine and Vogue Paris. Also, he regularly contributes to Interview Magazine for whom he shoots celebrity cover features and influential actors, musicians, and designers.
