FOMU Collects 2010-2020

Vincent Delbrouck, Bieke Depoorter, Boris Mikhailov, Max Pinckers, Mariken Wessels, Annemie Augustijns, David Claerbout, Jacques de Lalaing, Kimbei Kusakabe, Zanele Muholi, Dirk Braeckman …

Vincent Delbrouck, Bieke Depoorter, Boris Mikhailov, Max Pinckers, Mariken Wessels, Annemie Augustijns, David Claerbout, Jacques de Lalaing, Kimbei Kusakabe, Zanele Muholi, Dirk Braeckman... These are only a few photographers of which FOMU has collected works over the past ten years.

The re-collect exhibition takes you on an associative walk through a decade of collection acquisitions. We opt for a non-chronological arrangement, which creates new connections between the works. Three focus points run through re-collect as common threads: a focus on Belgian photography, on internationally socially relevant photography and a clear connection with our exhibitions. At the same time, the exhibition offers a glimpse into the collection's past, present and future.

The FOMU houses an international, diverse collection of more than three million objects. The whole is both historical and current and consists of four sub-collections: image, equipment, funds and book. Every year we expand the collection with new purchases and donations.

The re-collect exhibition shows recent acquisitions from the image sub-collection.
